Hipster/Jelly head hat pattern.

I had mentioned that I would post the pattern for the hat that I made for my Dad and my Brother. Well, I'm finally posting it.

Jelly Head.

( This pattern is sized to fit a LARGE head... at end of pattern I will explain how to make smaller for average sized head.)

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Yarn- Wool-Ease Thick and Quick. or any super bulky yarn.

Needles- Size 11 dpn's, one size 11 16'' circ needle, yarn needle(for weaving in ends)

With dpn's, CO 12 st.

1. pm, Knit.

2. K1, K F&B.( K F&B is a type of increase, if you are unfamiliar with this type of increase, then just increase one st. using favorite increase method.) repeat till end.

3. K2. K F&B, repeat till end.

4. Knit.

5. K3, K F&B, repeat till end.

6. K4, K F&B, repeat till end.

7. Knit.

8. K5, K F&B, repeat till end.

9. K6, repeat till end.

10. Knit.

11. Change to circ ndle. K7, K F&B, repeat till end.

12. K8, K F&B, repeat till end.

13. Knit.

14. K9, K F&B, repeat till end.

15. Knit.

continue to knit for 16 more rows. or until desired length is achieved.

Bind off.

weave in ends.

For Smaller size, on row 14, just Knit, don't increase.

What does the Scripture say?

Leviticus 18:22

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind; it is abomination.

This is the verse that I had to read a few times to really grasp the meaning of it. After a few moments of staring at this one verse I went to the reference that they gave at the end.

Romans 1:27-32

And likewise also the men,leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one towards another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers. Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgement of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure on them that do them.

For the last few weeks, this issue has been weighing heavily on my mind.

I try not to judge, for this is Gods job.

And He clearly says that He does not want us to have any part in it.

I don't like to say openly what I think on matters such as these, but at the same time, I know whats RIGHT and whats WRONG.

I have never had the right words to say why it's wrong. when I read Leviticus 18:22. The Elephant left the room never to return, I have no doubts now, the bible said it the way I never could.

In Gods own book the KJV Bible, there is no gray matter. God clearly says everything that we need to know. If you disagree with me, then I challenge you to pick up a bible and read it cover to cover, not picking and choosing what you WANT to hear, but reading all you NEED to hear.

Mom Cozy and Tea Cozy.

when I asked my Mom what she wanted for Christmas she told me that she wanted a shawl for reenacting.
She help pick out the pattern and I picked out the yarn.
I ended up using Cascade Yarns in a lovely Red/Brown color.
It turned out really well.

I also made her a tea pot cozy out of the same color plus the green from Frodo's sweater.

 

And there you have it, all the things that I made for people for Christmas.

Ligit socks.

                                                             

Usual people don't want to get socks for Christmas,

 so when I asked my Dad what he would want if I where to knit him something

and a few days later he said

 'You can knit me a pair of socks for reenacting.'

I was a little scared that he had not been serious, none the less, I knit him a pair of 100% authentic Civil War era socks.

I had gotten the pattern last year in a kit that I had found online.

 I got some sock yarn at the yarn shop in a color that I thought would be appropriate for men's socks during the 19th century, and got to work.

as I was working on many other projects while working on these it took me longer then it could have.

 I found that I really don't like knitting socks,

 at least not these ones while rather stressed....

So when Christmas came I nearly fainted while people where opening my gifts to them.

My doubts about if he where serious or not proofed to be groundless.

He loved them!!!!

For a knitter( or at least this knitter...)making something for some one you love and knowing that they are going to wear and love what you make them makes all the effort worth it.

Sweaterrrrrrr.

It is finally time that I can start showing you what I have been doing for the past four months!

This year, instead of trying to guess what every body would like I just asked them

' if I where to knit you something, what would you want?'

And you know what? it worked great!!!

 My oldest brother told me that he wanted a sweater.. Okay.

I had him help pick out the pattern, then I picked out that yarn and kept it under wraps for four long months.

The pattern that he picked out was from  winter 2009/10 VogueKnitting

It is a beautiful pattern and I would advise it for anyone willing to take the time and have the patience for it!

The yarn that I picked out was Lion brand, fisherman's wool.

wonderful yarn! I used the dark brown. it has a wonderful feel to it and it it looks perfect for this pattern.

I had trouble finding buttons at Joann's that I liked enough so I went to juniper Fiber Works and found five beautiful horn buttons. granted they where $4 each, but it was well worth the cost!

I have to say that while knitting I never really had any major problems, but that being said, working on this thing and on my dads gift together nearly gave me an ulcer...

In the end everything worked out perfectly!

I have to say that on it's own it is a beautiful sweater, but lets face it, it's the guy inside that really makes it :)

I was so happy to knit my wonderful brother something that he will use and love.

I started this on Oct 27th and ended on Dec 12th.

I haven't tallied up my hours yet....

Meet Lowell

My first Foxxy Commission!

During Thanksgiving my Auntie Carmen asked me if I would knit her a foxxy.

We picked the yarn out up in Portland.

And I have to say that it was the most wonderful yarn store I have ever been in...

the yarn is a blend of 67%Acrylic 14%wool, 10% polyester, 9% mohair
the color is called Smoke Ring.
they are the largest skeins of yarn I have ever seen.

Since the yarn was to thin on its own we decided that I would knit it with two strands at once.

it worked pretty well.

The Skeins where so large that for my work basket I used one of our laundry baskets!

I have to say, as much as I loved the yarn it was a pain working with it. mostly because I had to match the color gradations.

But in the end it looked pretty good, if I do say so my self.

He is, by far, the best one yet! I am so very pleased with how he came out!!!

It was one of the hardest times I have had giving up one of my children :(

But I am so happy that I was able to make him for my wonderful Auntie!

Meet Lowell the Fox.

This wise "Little Wolf" loves the deepest part of winter.

He knows many things, especially ow to please the ladies.

He's made of of tough stuff!

Wrap him around your neck and you'll have a friend for life.

one of the best Christmas gifts I have received would have to be Ophelia. My mother got her for me about five years ago. and I have enjoyed sewing for her and loving her as a sister made of porcelain.

this year I thought for her Birthday/Christmas I wouldn't make her a new dress, which is what I usually do(plus I just didn't have the time!)

I would do something different.

I gave her and her husband wedding rings.
